Be confident in what you know. In meetings or projects, take the lead and show your leadership skills. Position yourself as a confident leader and vocalize your opinions. If you are a member of a minority group in tech, you may be one of the only people in the meeting representing your group. You may feel overlooked or think as though your input may not be as important. Make sure you get your voice heard. Being confident in yourself and in your knowledge will help you propel yourself in the technology industry.
Build a Reputation:
Customers can be your greatest ally in the technology industry especially if you are a minority in technology. The customer has the power to advertise your work for free. Build a positive relationship with your customers so that they return to you for future work or advice. Be original when interacting with the customer. Greet them and give them good hospitality. Having good social skills is key when interacting with customers. Having a support system and a network of people who will vouch for your skills will allow you to advance your reputation in technology.
